  • Rufus pants a lot these days, sometimes goes into this sneezing kind of fit. Although he does have a few pounds to lose and were surrounded by the Texas heat he has never panted like this. The one thing I am most thankful in all of this (besides the donations!!) is that his appetite hasn’t been affected. Our big guy lovesss to eat!!

  • The point of this site.

Our amazing dog Rufus, is sick. The vets believe he has a tumor in his nose, they have done an x-ray per our request (the cheaper alternative to getting an MRI) and were able to see something on the x-ray, so we are going to need to either have an MRI performed or an operation, which will total about $1500 our vet said. Now, for those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting Rufus, let me tell you a little about him. He is the biggest, sweetest, silliest dog you have ever met. He is 160 pounds of good-natured fun. We rescued this amazing boy back in November 2003 from the North Richland Hills Animal shelter, so we put his age at around 9 years old. He had been brought back twice, so us rescuing him was kind of his last shot. These days, he loves to swim and boy does he love to EAT. A few weeks ago, we noticed him bleeding from his nose, we tried putting him on antibiotics, hoping it was a fungal infection. It hasn’t gone away yet. These days, he bleedsa lot.It is so bad that we have to change the water after he drinks because he drips blood into it. The bright side: he does not seem to be in any pain, he still loves to eat, and loves to swim when we let him. The dark side: our family has hit some financial hard times, are in the process of selling our home of 11 years, and we just don’t have the money to afford the MRI or surgery. Hence the point of this site. I will be posting pictures EVERY DAY with our donation button. Nothing sketchy, nothing fake, 110% of these proceeds going to saving our amazing dog. I mean you can tell just by looking at him, he is one in a million. Every little bit helps, even if it is just one dollar. We would be eternally grateful, we love this boy so, so much. The link is below, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the donate button to show up, so if anyone wants to help me out, I’d be much obliged.
